Sign Mark Teixeira to 8 years 160 million

Send Mike Lowell (with 1.5 years of his contract picked up so 18.75 million) and Daniel Bard to the Cleveland Indians for Kelly Shoppach

Sign Jason Bay to a 4 year extension worth about 60-70 million

Extend Jon Lester to 5 years worth 40-55 million

Resign Jason Varitek to 2 years 15-20 million

Resign Alex Cora to 2 years 3-7 million

Trade Julio Lugo to the Detroit Tigers for Dontrelle Willis (to be in the bullpen, not a starter)

Move Kevin Youkilis to 3rd base

Move Justin Masterson to the rotation

Move Clay Buchholz to the bullpen (to extend his major league experience and build his confidence so we can take over Wakefield's spot in the rotation in 2010)

Keep Jeff Bailey on the bench to play outfield and 1st base

Sign Rocco Baldelli to 3 years 10-15 million

Sounds good, but too late :)
Don't like the idea of getting rid of daniel bard for a mediocre catcher (we have v-mart now :)
Like the idea of clay bucholtz, he is a rising star. too bad we didn't get halladay but we have a good rotation besides john smoltz. Go Red Sox!
